Hackathons #

• Ginkgo Bioworks x VCPI "Build a Virtual Cell" AIxBio Builder Hackathon, Boston (Seaport), June 2026 (remote). Core track: Drug-seq transcriptomic response modeling, predicting how THP-1 cells respond to unseen drug compounds, scored by active-compound weighted MSE (wMSE). Our submission was a staged retrieval + chemistry-embedding fusion model, written up as the paper "The Metric Picks the Winner: Evaluation Choice Flips Model Rankings for Drug-Response Prediction in Unseen Chemistry". • "Agentic AI Build Week"- Largest Agentic AI Hackathon in ASEAN powered by GenAI Fund, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, July 8-12, 2026. $1,000,000+ in AI Credits and Perks from OpenAI, AWS, etc. We are building in the Physical AI track: an agentic AI interface for controlling lab equipment.

• Claude Life Sciences- Research & Build Track, global virtual hackathon by Anthropic x Gladstone Institutes, July 7-13, 2026. A week of researching and building with Claude Science and Claude Code across the life sciences, with a $100k credits prize pool.

• Biohub - Cell Tracking During Development, Kaggle competition ($60,000 prize pool), June 29 - September 22, 2026. Detecting and tracking individual cells through 3D space and time in real light-sheet microscopy imaging of developing zebrafish embryos, to reconstruct cell lineages across development.
